I can’t believe it has already been a month since the most magical wedding conference I have ever attended. Engage!15 at the 4 Seasons at Walt Disney World. I made the investment to attend my first Engage! when it was held in Las Vegas because Abby of Style Me Pretty & Siri Eklund of Two Bright Lights were going to be speaking. I said then, that if I were ever asked to speak I would know I had reached the pinnacle of my career. Fast forward, almost four years and a total of six Engage! conferences later and I did. It was definitely a WOW moment.
I have always believed the reason Modern Jewish Wedding is THE blog for Jewish and Jew-ish couple is because of my commitment to staying up to date on all things Wedding. It’s the special attention to the details that set an event apart from Beautiful to Experiential! At Engage! if you blink, you’ll miss a detail like the Hidden Mickey’s or a souvenir like the special Engage Trading Pins.
When you’re planning your wedding ceremony & reception try to think about engaging (yes, pun intended) your audience using all five senses. Adding a live element, such as a character, can be the extra WOW factor that engages all the senses at the same time. Not having a Disney Wedding? That’s OK! How about having your servers dress to the theme? Like having them wear white gloves for an elegant Modern Jewish Wedding or have your band or DJ dress like a speak-easy for your Great Gatsby affair.
Pantone may have picked a baby shower as their “Colors of the Year” but, the real trend is in neutrals. Gray is the Perfect Neutral. Like black, it goes with everything. Unlike black, it can be light or dark.
At Engage! there is a surprise around every corner, literally! Each time you walk in a door or go to bed at night, there is a special surprise awaiting. In fact, the surprises start before you even arrive when you get something in the mail. This Engage! there was a whole surprise about our evening activity–going to the Magic Kingdom.
You may not be able to cover a castle in icicles for your wedding reception, but, you can add a little touch of ice to your bar or even create some speciality ice cubes for your cocktails.
There really isn’t much more to say on the subject. Best decor bang for your buck is with lighting.
Not the kind slipped into your drink. There’s always room for a little Disney in every Modern Jewish Wedding. You can even hide them if you want. We know Modern Jewish Brides who have walked down to a favorite Disney tune, had their first dance to Aladdin’s, “I Can Show You the World,” or bought the his/her Mickey Wedding Ears. Don’t want Mickey in your wedding? How about a great Honeymoon?
The essence of a Modern Jewish Wedding is telling your story as a couple and making sure your personality shines through–just like in the fairy tales.
