McCormick Home Ranch Modern Jewish Wedding

The Modern Jewish Wedding Details

There is so much to love about Alexis and Guy, and their beautiful sunset filled wedding at McCormick Home Ranch that it’s impossible to pick just one thing. What I think especially stood out about their wedding was just how involved their closest friends and families were, and how joyous everyone who attended was. So many friends took their time to help, from the hair and make-up, to the cake, even to the custom dinosaur cake toppers! Not to mention the evening was filled with stunning sunset light, that shown down on everything. When the light fell, the evening ended with the couple being surprised serenaded family, and there was not a dry eye on the dance floor.

This is what the couple said,

We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding and being able to customize our wedding to include Jewish traditions and DIY elements was important to us. Finding the right venue was a challenge, as many outdoor venues in Los Angeles only use preferred vendors that do not include an option for kosher catering. McCormick Home Ranch fit all of our needs. We fell in love with the ranch’s beautiful atmosphere and convenient layout. The flexibility that the venue provided and the willingness to accommodate our Jewish traditions and kosher catering sealed the deal. We utilized many of the rentals at the ranch, but also added DIY elements to save money and really make it feel our own. We made our own invitations, provided our own alcohol and candles for the tables, and made seating assignment cards/party favors and our chuppah cover. Our favorite moment of the wedding was signing the ketubah, which we did with our closest family and friends. Everyone in attendance started singing together and you could really feel the joy of momentous occasion. The biggest practical advice we would give to engaged couples would be to prioritize items in your budget and to stick to your gut feelings about vendors and contracts. Pay attention to first impressions! Vendors who made good first impressions tended to exceed our expectations, whereas vendors who we had hesitations about from the beginning turned out to be more difficult down the line. More importantly though, we want to remind couples that ultimately the wedding is about them, and to create the wedding they want, not what other people may want for them. And of course, remember to enjoy the big day!
