Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw!
Remember the part in the movie where Carrie tries on dresses by all the famous bridal gown designers for a Vogue spread? Well, imagine yourself in any of these hot off the runway gowns!
Although we can only dream of attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (just like the stars on Project Runway) our friends from Wedding Wire were there and got all the gossip for us! Here are some of our most favorite designers and our very own picks for favorite gowns by said designers.
And, just because we know our opinion is just that–our opinion, we’re including what the style reporters are saying too!
No big surprise here: The Great Gatsby and Downton Abby both served as inspiration for the hottest new runway collections. Wedding Wire noted unique lace, coverage options, black and white styles, interesting back details, and embellished illusion necklines as the fun new twists on bridal wear!
Bridal Market Day 1
Marchesa: We’re loving the vintage-inspired feel of this season’s collection – lots of illusion necklines and lace sleeves here.
Vera Wang: It’s all about contrast: fashion-forward black and ivory wedding gowns in a variety of silhouettes from super-fitted to grand and traditional ballgowns.
Bridal Market Day 2
Jam Packed with Kenneth Pool, Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier & Project Runway’s Austin Scarlett (with some designs I love).
Kenneth Pool: Luxe, glamorous gowns with varying degrees of sparkle – from a bit of beading to amped-up bling.
Austin Scarlett: Classic styles with flattering details
Reem Acra: Feminine and fashion-forward wedding dresses with some truly unique accessories
Monique Lhuillier: Love lace? Check out this designer’s regal and romantic new collection
Full disclosure Monique Lhuillier is my absolute favorite wedding dress designer! But, she has some serious run for the money when we get to day 3–hang on to your bouquets gals these dresses are fabulous!
Bridal Market Day 3
Featured Carrie’s fav Carolina Herrera & a new name for me that is now an instant fav, Ines di Santo
Ines Di Santo: This collection was all about the glam factor – whether it was a grand beaded ballgown or a body-hugging silhouette, each gown had a red-carpet feel.
Bridal Market Day 4
Oscar de la Renta: We just adored all of the whimsical touches in this collection – you’ll have to see it to believe us.
Do you have a favorite designer? Gown? Would you wear Vera Wang Black on your big day?
