Monday Morning Inspiration: Ideas to Steal from Engage!13

Engage! Your Modern Jewish Wedding

Each time I attend the Engage! conference I am newly blown away by the attention to detail (no surprise since the creators are Disney Wedding alumna), the creativity and the WOW factor.

I love to share with all of you while I’m there (via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest) because there is just to much to describe in such a brief medium.  (Look for a whole spread in the 2014 magazine.)

But, here I’ve selected a few components you can easily modify to suit your own Modern Jewish Wedding.

Mazel Tov to all the newly engaged Modern Jewish Brides!

Create a warm welcome

When your out of town visitors check in at their hotel (or where ever they will be staying) show them a real welcome.  It isn’t just about your welcome swag.  It’s about creating a mood for your guests as they transition from travel mode to fun mode.

So, it’s colder than you expected?

Make the best of it.  Send your guests an email and let them know what you have planned, so, they can pack appropriately.  Bring in some space heaters (or use the venues fire pit).  Buy out the colored glove section at Old Navy and hand them out upon your guest arrival.  Add an upscale coffee/hot chocolate bar, complete with liquors).  Once you get your guests on the dance floor, they won’t even realize it was chilly!

Get everyone to participate in a Hora!

Even the non-Jews at your party will get on the dance floor for the rousing Hora!

Be creative with the food!

We’re not just talking about a dessert buffet.  Below you see hanging bacon strips, a fondue bar (complete with three different kinds of bacon), a station of home made potato chips with three kinds of dip, a popcorn station, a make your own trail mix station (thanks to Minted) and a wall made up of spoons of desserts!

Create a WOW display for your escort cards.

Those are individual lanterns with LED lights hung on a floral display.

Don’t forget to bring the FUN!

Show your guests you’re having a good time.  If they see you having enjoying yourself, they will too.
