Sound the shofar!  Today is Simchat Torah.  We never miss a Modern Jewish Holiday which is an excuse for a par-ty! Why? It literally means, “Rejoice in Torah.” Although it is one of the lesser known and celebrated holidays in the diaspora; it is one of the most fun Jewish holidays of the year. We complete one cycle of the reading of the Torah (all Five Books of Moses) and we start a new cycle…

It’s Shavuot!  (AKA Michele’s Favorite Holiday) We’re using the holiday as inspiration for your Modern Jewish (& Jew-ish) Wedding Never heard of Shavuot?  Don’t feel bad!  Neither had I until I worked in a Jewish congregation as the in-house wedding coordinator and creating celebrations for the Jewish holidays for the congregation was also part of the job!  What to me was an unheard of holiday, has become my favorite Jewish holiday of the year–that’s right–more…

    • This was a DIY interfaith wedding with family touches all the way. Erin’s mom made the wedding cake. Rafi’s mom worked closely with the florist on decoration for our wedding and she is the one who did the needle point of “Ani le dodi ve dodi li,” the saying in Hebrew that was on the chuppah.
