This is not your typical Vegas wedding. Brimming with eclectic, vintage-inspired details plus an Elvis impersonator, Erin and Chris’ Nevada celebration makes you want to jump right into the fun.
Chris took Erin on a date within 24 hours of moving to Boston, where she already lived. Thanks to a mutual friend, they’d already been chatting long distance and soon became inseparable. Chris got down on one knee at a special park overlooking the harbor, and she said yes between happy tears.
Flash forward to the destination desert wedding you’ll find below. The bride was all smiles in her ethereal Reem Acra gown, surrounded by bridesmaids in shades of purple and blue. The groom wore gray Hugo Boss and groomsmen looked tip-top in tailored vests and skinny blue plaid ties.
The colorful chuppah stood out as a vibrant symbol of the newly merged family – the bride is Jewish and much of the groom’s family is Christian. At the end of the ceremony, Chris smashed the glass and everyone yelled a robust “Mazel Tov!” Reportedly, those new to the tradition were especially enthusiastic and continued to shout it throughout the night!
For the event design, the couple sought out a like-minded wedding planner from When Pigs Fly, who took the purple, vintage Vegas theme and ran with it. She brought the bright colors and eclectic vibe to life with a candy-land of interesting props, furniture, linens and succulent centerpieces.
Personal details were everywhere. Chris loves mountain biking, so they displayed escort cards on the spokes of bike wheels. Margarita-salt-filled test tubes were a nod to the groom’s scientific background. One of the bride’s best friends commissioned a painting made especially for that day. The caterer served Mexican food, the couple’s favorite, for dinner.
Last but not least, the couple hired an Elvis impersonator to liven up the reception. To our knowledge, “the King” did not go up in a chair during the Hora, but the bride and groom certainly did.
